Summary: This bill would amend the citywide bathroom strategy required by Local Law 58 of 2025, requiring as part of each public bathroom strategic planning report an update regarding the status of each active or planned capital project to install a public bathroom at a site identified by Local Law 114 of 2022. Each such update would require information about the nature of the project, estimated or actual starting and completion dates for the current phase of the project, an estimated useful life of the project upon completion, the total funds allocated to the project, a strategy for maintaining sanitary conditions and operations, and the location of the project.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to reporting on previously identified sites for public bathrooms

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Paragraphs 7 and 8 of subdivision b of section 3-119.11 of the administrative code of the city of New York are redesignated paragraphs 8 and 9, respectively, and a new paragraph 7 is added to such subdivision to read as follows:

7. An update regarding the status of each active or planned capital project to install a public bathroom at a location identified in the report submitted pursuant to local law number 114 for the year 2022, including, as applicable:

(a) A description of such project, including a description of the factors that led to the identification of the site, the proposed type of facility to be installed, and proposed safety measures;

(b) The actual or estimated starting date and actual or estimated completion date of the current phase of such project, and upon completion of the project, the estimated useful life of the facility;

(c) The total amount of funds allocated to such project or, when applicable, a range of the funds available for such project;

(d) Each source of funding allocated to such project;

(e) For each public bathroom that is completed, a description of the strategy for maintaining sanitary conditions and operation; and

(f) The location of such project, including the borough and community district where such project is located;

§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
