A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to a report on staffing levels for park enforcement patrol officers and park rangers
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 18 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 18-169 to read as follows:
§ 18-169 Report on park enforcement patrol and park rangers. No later than January 31, 2026, and quarterly thereafter, the department shall submit a report to the mayor and speaker of the council on the staff levels and other relevant information for parks enforcement patrol officers and urban park rangers. Such report shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
1. The number of parks enforcement patrol officers and urban park rangers employed by the department in total;
2. The number of parks enforcement patrol officers and urban park rangers assigned to each borough;
3. The number of vacant positions for parks enforcement patrol officers and urban park rangers;
4. Each park or property under the jurisdiction of the department that has a specified number of parks enforcement patrol officers or urban park rangers assigned to such park or property;
5. Each park, playground or other property under the jurisdiction of another entity where any parks enforcement patrol officers or urban park rangers were assigned or deployed by the department; and
6. Each park or property under the jurisdiction of the department where a violation of rules or other incident occurred that required the intervention of a parks enforcement patrol officer or urban park ranger, a description of such incident and the number of department personnel involved.
§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
