Int 0495-2024 *Justin L. Brannan  Limiting increases of occupancy fees for self-storage units and restricting the reasons for termination of an occupancy agreement.IntroductionThis bill would limit increases of occupancy fees for self-storage facilities so that the occupancy fee for a self-storage unit occupied continuously by the same occupant could not increase by more than 2 percent per year. In addition, storage facilities would not be permitted to terminate occupancies for any reason other than non-payment of required fees. Violations of the prohibitions in this bill would be subject to civil penalties of up to $2,500 per year per storage unit. The Corporation Counsel would be empowered to enforce the bill’s provisions by instituting a civil action against any self-storage facility in violation, and by conducting an investigation pursuant to such civil action.   Not available Not available
Int 1016-2024 *Erik D. Bottcher  Consumer warnings regarding rifles, shotguns, and firearms.IntroductionThis bill would require dealers in firearms, rifles, and shotguns to display a warning sign where the firearms, rifles, or shotguns are displayed or where they are transferred to the purchaser. The warning sign would include the following message: “A firearm in the home significantly increases the risk of suicide, homicide, death during domestic disputes, and unintentional deaths to children, household members and others. If you or a loved one is experiencing distress or depression, call the Mobile Crisis Team at 1-888-NYC WELL (1-888-692-9355) or the National Suicide Hotline at 988.” Failure to display the sign would be a violation punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000. In addition, the bill would require that graphic images depicting the nature of such risks be posted adjacent to the warning sign. Int 1231-2025 *Chris Banks  Requiring tax preparers to provide customers with statements itemizing all charges.IntroductionThis bill would require tax preparers to provide customers with an itemized statements of charges, including charges for state and federal tax returns, software fees, filing fees, and fees related to refund anticipation loans and checks. T2025-3689 *Julie Menin  Reforming certain business licensing requirements.IntroductionThis bill would reform many of the city’s business licensing laws. It would merge the electronics store and the electronic or home appliance service dealer licenses. Individual locksmiths would no longer need to be licensed or fingerprinted, and the fingerprinting requirement would also be eliminated for process servers and dealers in secondhand goods (other than automobile dealers). Secondhand clothing dealers and distributors for general vendors would no longer be required to be licensed. Process servers, industrial laundries, dealers in secondhand goods (other than automobile dealers), and storage warehouses would no longer be required to be bonded. It would eliminate fees for replacing lost or destroyed licenses. Finally, licensed electronic cigarette dealers would be permitted to move within their community districts without applying for a new license.   Not available Not available
T2025-3699 *Julie Menin  Prohibiting pricing increases based on real-time demand at food service establishments.IntroductionThis bill would prohibit food establishments from using a dynamic pricing model that increases the price of any menu item based on real-time demand, which includes the number of individuals present in the food establishment. Any food establishment that violates this section would be liable for a civil penalty, for each day that a dynamic pricing model is used, of $500.   Not available Not available
